Romy is off the shoulder. A wide band of organza sits across the top of the arms, separate from the bodice, leaving the shoulders and the upper back bare. The bodice is wrapped rather than seamed. Pleats cross the front on the diagonal and gather at one side, so the front is never symmetrical. The waist sits a little low. Below it the skirt takes over, full and light, holding its shape without stiffness. The back is plain. The band crosses it, a centre seam runs down, and the skirt gathers from the waist. The train is long and flat, and it moves in one piece. No lace, no beading, no appliqué. The gown is one fabric and one idea. It reads best with room to walk: a church aisle, or a garden with a long path.
