Kua, qun kua or cheongsam?

A tradition to make your own.

  1. I

    Qun kua

A traditional two-piece jacket and skirt, embroidered with symbolic motifs. Most carry a dragon and phoenix, so it is also called the long feng kua (龍鳳褂).

  2. II

    Modern kua

A contemporary one-piece take on traditional bridalwear, bringing traditional embroidery and details into a refined, modern silhouette.

  3. III

    Cheongsam

An iconic one-piece dress defined by its mandarin collar and elegant silhouette. Refined, timeless and effortlessly versatile.

Kua rental questions

Before you come in.

How much does it cost to rent a kua?
Traditional and modern kua rental starts from S$480 nett, with basic alterations and professional dry cleaning included. Pricing varies by design and style, and our team will be happy to guide you through the options during your fitting.
Can I rent just the kua, without a wedding gown?
Absolutely. Our kua can be rented individually with no additional gowns or package required.
What is the Chinese wedding dress called, and how is it different from a cheongsam?
It is the qun kua (裙褂), also spelt qun kwa, qun gua or kwan kwa, and usually just called the kua. It consists of an embroidered jacket and skirt. A modern kua offers a contemporary interpretation, often as a one-piece silhouette with traditional-inspired embroidery and details. A cheongsam, or qipao, is distinguished by its mandarin collar and fitted silhouette, offering a different expression of Chinese bridal style.
Do you have kua without the dragon and phoenix?
Yes. Our modern kua collection includes a variety of embroidery and detailing, from delicate florals and phoenix motifs to more understated designs. WhatsApp us to arrange a complimentary fitting and explore the collection in person.
Can I try a kua before I commit?
Yes. Trying on is free, with no obligation to rent. Take the time to discover what feels right for you.
How early should I book a kua rental?
We suggest reserving your preferred design three to six months ahead. For popular dates, an earlier appointment gives you a wider selection of styles to explore.
Can you dress the bride’s mother too?
Yes. Our collection also includes elegant styles for mothers, with a range of silhouettes and colours to explore. Our stylists can guide her through the collection during a complimentary fitting.
