Primrose grows down one side. The bodice is lace over a V neckline, held by fine straps, and the appliqués do not stop at the waist. They spill over the hip and trail down the skirt in a loose line, the way a vine takes the easiest line downhill. The skirt itself is crepe, smooth and matte and close to the body, which is what makes the lace legible against it. Behind, a sheer panel extends into a long train edged all the way round in scalloped lace, transparent enough that the floor shows through it. The contrast between matte crepe and open lace is the whole design. It suits a bride who wants a clean silhouette with one deliberate flourish, and it photographs beautifully from behind, where the sheer train catches the light and the crepe does not.
