Ondine is two gowns joined at the hip. Above that line it is lace and structure — an off-shoulder neckline with bands resting on the arm, a fitted bodice, the lace continuing over the hip in narrow points that finish at different heights. Below the line it is nothing but tulle. The skirt breaks low and opens fast into a full sweep, soft and unlined, spilling out behind into a long train that moves like water. The back is cut to a deep V between the off-shoulder bands, with the lace tapering down the spine. The low break is what makes it. It keeps the silhouette narrow far longer than most mermaids, so the release reads as dramatic rather than gradual. An evening gown, best on a floor with room to let the tulle spread.
