Isolde is cut close and low. The neckline drops to a deep V between wide straps that sit out on the shoulder, both of them covered in the same lace that runs the length of the gown. The bodice is boned and shaped to the waist, and the skirt holds the line of the hip before it releases below the knee. Lace is laid over the skirt in tiers, each one finished with a scalloped edge, so the surface breaks into bands of light as she turns. The back opens to a low V between the shoulder blades. Behind her the train spreads wide and flat, edged in the same scallop, catching whatever light is in the room. This is a gown for an evening reception and a room lit low. It rewards a slow entrance and looks its best under warm light, where the lace reads as texture rather than pattern.
